Robert "Bob" E. Gesquiere

Robert Edward "Bob" Gesquiere, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away Friday morning, June 15, 2012 at Brian's House. Age 88 years. He was born May 31, 1924 in Veurne, Belgium to the late Suzanne (Schilawaert) and August Gesquiere. He was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church, he served the United States Army during WW II, was a member of the V.F.W. Kawkawlin/Linwood Post #6950 and was active with the Bay County Veterans Council. Bob retired form Dobson Heavy Haul in 1986, enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer. On September 8, 1942 he married the former Joan M. Martin and she survives his passing along with six children; Joan and John Svendor, Robert and Cynthia Gesquiere, Ronald and Danielle Gesquiere, Elizabeth and Edward Silye, Rochelle and Robert Washabaugh and Cherie and Rob Bluhm, fifteen grandchildren; John, Shawn, Heather, Wendy, Nicole, Ryan, Jason, Ashley, Meagan, Andrea, Robbie, Aaron, Lauren, Austin and Connor, ten great grandchildren; Ethan, Emyle, Hannah, Gregory, Hailey, Rory, Trevor, Olivia, Leah and Valyn, one sister; Goldie Vultaggio and one sister-in-law; Mary Gesquiere. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother; Norbert Gesquiere. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his daughter Cherie who he always called his own private nurse. Funeral Services will take place Monday, June 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel C. Meckes and Rev. George W. Morris. The Committal Service and Military Honors will take place Wednesday June 20, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m.. Bob will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 1:00 p.m. and until the time of services.
