Robert C. Buckius "Bob"

Robert (Bob) passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at The Oaks of Belmont in Belmont, MI at the age of 87. He was born on August 13, 1934 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Charley and Ruth (Bishop) Buckius. Robert graduated from T.L. Handy High in 1954 then married his wife, Judy (Barrett), in April of 1955. They resided in Bay City for 20 years where all four of their kids were raised. He is survived by his children, Connie (Rick) Mulders, Mandy (Skip) Bryant, Robert (Tammy) Buckius Jr. and David (Mary) Buckius; followed by 13 grandchildren and their spouses and 14 great grandchildren, with two more on the way. Robert is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Stroemer and Carol (Lynn) Louis and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert also worked at GM in Saginaw as a millwright for 35 years. He loved racing motorcycles and won lots of trophies. Robert and Judy moved to Omer and built a house together and lived there for 40 years. They attended Twining Baptist Church where he was a Deacon for many years. Robert loved to deer hunt.  He taught his sons and grandsons how to hunt, also. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone with their automotive or mechanical work/repair. Three years ago, Bob and Judy moved to Grand Rapids and joined the Plainfield Baptist Church. He has been residing at The Oaks at Belmont for the last six months. Bob also loved his birds. He had a pet crow when he was young and for the past 30 years, he has had a Senegal Parrot named Sunny.
The family would also like to extend a very special thank you to The Oaks at Belmont staff for their loving care. Bob hopes to greet you in heaven someday. He is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
A Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home to receive visitors from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Officiating the service will be Robert's grandson, Pastor Joe Carrel.
