Robert passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Carriage House at the age of 89 years. Robert was born on April 4, 1929 on Mackinaw Island to the late Orlo and Elma (Hill) Denzer. He was very proud of being born and family heritage of Mackinaw Island. On September 16, 1950 he married the former Jean Turbiville and they were married for 68 years. Robert and Jean were members of the North Euclid Church of God. He graduated in 1952 from Michigan Tech as a Civil Engineer and later worked and retired as the head of the Bay County Department of Public Works. He also worked as a Consulting Engineer for the city of Vassar in the late 1980's - 1990's. Robert loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, (the pinnacle of this hobby having been a hole-in-one on a course in Florida), hunting, fishing and was a lifelong member of Civitan International. In addition to his vast knowledge he was also known to many for his keen sense of humor.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Thomas (Sandy), John (Jan) and Susan (Charles) Craves; grandchildren, Derek (Melissa), Nicole, Jocelyn (Craig), Jacob (Allison) and Adia; great grandchildren, Kennedy, Aaron, Patrick, Grace, Griffin, Evan, Addison and Kendyl; sister, Dorothy Morton and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Gerry Kenny and brothers-in-law, Jack Kenny and Walter Morton.
At Robert's request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2018. Officiating will be Pastor Darryl Babcock. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 12:00 noon until the time of the memorial service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to make a memorial contribution to the North Euclid Church of God.
