Robert J. Hanson Sr.

Mr. Hanson passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Brian's House at the age of 88. The son of the late Joseph and Anna (Osentoski) Hanson was born February 20, 1933 in Huron County, Michigan. Mr. Hanson was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and deacon. Robert also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, retired from Dow Chemical Company and owned and operated Hanson Contracting.
Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife, Margaret J. (Nichol) "Peggy" Hanson, whom he married on January 31, 1953. Children, Robert Joseph (Paula) Hanson Jr., Thomas Nichol (Marie) Hanson, Julie Ruth (Martin) Kelly, William Dwight (Linda) Hanson, Janet Elizabeth (Richard) Kiesel and Joann Margaret (David) Keffer; 23 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one sister, Joan LeCronier and his brother-in-law, John (Mary Catherine) Nichol. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Ray, Jim and David Hanson and two sisters, Gloria Flannery and Sharon Isel.
A memorial visitation will take place on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at Westminster Presbyterian Church from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. A private memorial service will take place at a later time with private inurnment taking place in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Covid protocols will be in place at the church, face masks must be worn and social distancing is to be observed. Memorials for Westminster Presbyterian Church or Brian's House will be available at the church.
