Robert passed away Friday, March 19, 2021 at Riversbend at the age of 79 years. He was born in Bay City on April 25, 1941 to the late Robert and Virginia (Dodge) Kennedy. On July 10, 1965 he married the former Janice Evans in Bay City and they spent 55 years together. He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Robert worked and retired from the City of Bay City as a Planner. He loved deer hunting and was very active in the City of Bay City and its history. Robert enjoyed traveling and going to museums. He also enjoyed old cars and going to car shows. Robert loved to build things, remodel things and work with his hands. Most of all he loved his family.
Robert is survived by his wife, Janice; children, Melissa (Ron) Withers, Scott (Rachel) Kennedy and Sarah (Keri) Kennedy; grandchildren, Kayla (Justin) Garza, Ronni Withers, Oliver Kennedy, Jasper Kennedy, Luke Kennedy, Jared Schroeder, Angela Withers, Kelsey Withers and Brooke Lamblin; great grandchildren, Malakai, Justin Jr., Kyndell, Logan and Xavier; sisters, Judy (Tom) Ross and Lisa Kennedy; brother Alan (Terri) Kennedy; brother-in-law, Albert (Sandy) Evans and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Donald Kennedy; daughter, Mary Kennedy, father and mother-in-law, Albert and Virginia Evans and brother-in-law, Gary Evans. The family would like to extend a Thank you to Riversbend for the kind and compassionate Robert received the last 11 years.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church. The church will be limited to 40 people for the service, social distancing and facemasks must be worn. Officiating will be Rev. Nancy Mayhew with interment following in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. We are currently still under the governor's executive order of social distancing and limited to 25 visitors in the chapel at one time. You may experience a wait while paying your respects, face coverings must be worn. Mr. Kennedy will be taken to the church to lie in state on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
