Robert passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 84. He was born to the late Lasko and Mary (Dvorski) Kochalka on July 25, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust. He enjoyed working out at the YMCA every day and working on his cars. He won several Car Show awards locally and Nationwide. He loved to go sailing, hunting, fishing, was a big storyteller, and lived life to the fullest.

Robert is survived by his children, Lori (Brian) Burnell, Karen (Paul) DeJager, Frederick Sian and Travis (Sabrinnah Short) Kochalka; grandchildren, Kelsey (Stephen) Bollinger, Loren Burnell, Cheryl DeJager, Christine (Nate) Flanagan, Tracy DeJager, Victoria Schaaf, Sabastian Freeman and one more on the way and sisters, Catherine Mikel and Jane Jefferys. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Sian) Kochalka; son, Robbie Kochalka; sister, Mary and brothers, Joseph and Donald.

In honoring the wishes of Robert, cremation has taken place and no services are being planned at this time. A private inurnment will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Frankenlust.

“Here’s to it, if you can’t do it, step aside and let me do it because I’m used to it.” We’ll miss you.
