Bob passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 81 years. He was born on October 15, 1939 in Bay City to the late Frederick and Helen (Lesser) Obermiller. On June 30, 1962 he married the former Marilyn M. Horner and they were married for 59 years. Bob was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church where he served as an usher for over 50 years and also a member of the LFA Hall. He worked for Valley Chrome Plating for 35 years and retired in 2000. In his spare time, he enjoyed blooper ball, softball, horseshoes, bowling and umpiring girls' softball. He also enjoyed car shows at Bay Medical Care Facility, playing the lottery and having a beer while watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children, Tammy, Steve (Lori) and Ashley (Shawn); grandchildren, Kala, Nick, Corinna, Tevin, Alexis and Alivia; great grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, Robert, Aizlee, Lucas and Damien Jr.; brothers and sisters, Betty, James, Marlene (Paul) and Tom (Diane) and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Lena Horner; son, David; two brothers and four sisters.
Funeral and committal service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Service will be live streamed at www.stjohnsbc.org . Officiating will be Pastor Paul E. Schaewe and Pastor Jacob Reich with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Contributions may be made to the St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. The family of Bob would like to extend a special thank you to his home health care nurse, Joyce, Dr. Reddy, (Hilary, Susan), Dr. Bash and McLaren NICU staff for the wonderful care they gave.
