Robert W. Reif

Mr. Reif passed away early Tuesday morning, April 26, 2016 at the home of his daughter. Age 90 years. The son of the late George J.W. and Emma M. (Dirla) Reif was born July 26, 1925 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Mr. Reif was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and was the former director of the Hand Bell Choir. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WW II and retired from Dow Corning Company as a Laboratory Manager. Bob had a passion for wood working, enjoyed a good game of golf and most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family. Left behind to cherish his memories are one daughter and son-in-law; Sue and Dave Clements, one son and daughter-in-law; Scott and Carolyn Reif, three grandchildren; Wesley Reif, Anna Reif and Robert Reif, three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. On September 23, 1950 he married the love of his life, the former Muriel A. Atkinson and she preceded him in death on January 10, 2014. He was also preceded in death by one sister; Dorothy Holmes and one brother; Rev. George Reif. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at McLaren Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Mr. Reif during the time they cared for him and also a special thank you to Tracey whom assumed the responsibilities of director of the Hand Bell Choir when Bob retired. Funeral Services will take place Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church 815 N. Grant St. Bay City, Michigan. Officiating will the The Reverend Ann Grady with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery under the auspices of the United States Navy and the Bay County Veterans Council. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday to receive visitors from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Reif will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
