Ronald Louis Koehler, 86, of Bay City, passed away at home on September 1, 2026.
Born in Saginaw, Michigan, Ronald was the son of the late Louis and Marguerite Koehler. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1957 and earned B.S. from Ferris State University in Pharmacy, Masters and PHD from Wayne State University in Microbiology and Immunology and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University (formerly COMS). He worked as a pharmacist and taught his classmates at Des Moines University.
He married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Buggia, on Sept 2, 1961 in Saginaw.
Ronald moved to Bay City in 1977 and started his practice as a Physician affiliated with Bay Osteopathic Hospital. Retiring in 2000 from his practice, he worked at Bay Medical Center training residents and was part owner in Redimed Walk in Clinics, fully retiring at the age of 80. He also was a member of the Bay City Elks #88, Knights of Columbus #414 and was active since 1977 at St. Catherine of Siena (formerly St. Vincent de Paul).
Ronald was known for his many interests. He played clarinet in the Bay City Concert Band, built and flew model airplanes, played blooper ball at his church, was an avid Paddle Ball player and after many years, completed remodeling his 1931 Oldsmobile. He was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed travel many years with his close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Thomas Koehler. Ronald is survived by his wife Joyce of 65 years, Joyce Buggia Koehler, children Katherine and Robert Koehler, nieces Michelle Hamlin (Brian), Beth Spiroff (Kory) and sister-in-law Barbara Koehler. Also, many cousins and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at St. Catherine of Siena. Friends may visit with family on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Humane Society of Bay County or St. Catherine of Siena Altar Society.
