Ronald D. Krause

Ronald Dale Krause, age 80, of Bay City, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2026. Born on September 7, 1945, in Bay City to Dale and Edith (Lusher) Krause, Ron lived a life marked by service, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Ron served his country honorably before embarking on a distinguished career in law enforcement. He retired as a police officer after many years of faithfully serving and protecting his community. His strong sense of duty, integrity, and commitment to others defined him both professionally and personally.

Ron had a deep passion for the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gifted with his hands and blessed with a knack for solving problems, he seemed able to fix just about anything. He also took great pride in his gunsmithing skills, a hobby that reflected both his craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.

Above all else, Ron cherished time spent with his family. Whether sharing stories, offering guidance, lending a helping hand, or simply enjoying each other's company, he created countless memories that will be treasured forever.

In 1969, Ron married the love of his life, Nancy (Weiss), who survives him. Together they built a life grounded in love, hard work, faith, and strong family values. Their marriage was a testament to devotion, partnership, and enduring commitment.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy; his sons, Randy (Cathy) Krause and Rob (Lis) Krause; his grandchildren, Abby, Hayden, and David Krause, and Jessica, Jacob, Zachary, and Samantha Clark; and his great-grandchildren, Gavin and Holden Smith, Allie and Luke Wilson, and Udoka Ojinnaka. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Schommer; his brother, Ric (Irene) Krause; his extended family members, Richard (Elizabeth) Weiss, John Weiss, Mary Jo Weiss, Michael (Lori) Weiss, Russell (Diane) Weiss, Joseph Weiss, Cynthia (Walter) Gorney, Ann Weiss, Jane Weiss, and Janet Weiss; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Elmer and Bernadette Jacobs; brother-in-law John Schommer; sisters-in-law Betty Lou Weiss, Karen Leske, Jeanne Weiss, and Darlene Weiss; brothers-in-law Tom Weiss, Paul Weiss, and Tim Leske; and other beloved family members who welcomed him into eternal life.

Among Ron's many treasured friendships were the members of his morning coffee group, who gathered daily at McDonald's to solve the world's problems, share stories, and enjoy one another's company. Those friendships brought him great joy and were an important part of his daily life.

Ron will be remembered for his strength, wisdom, generosity, and deep love for family and friends.

Funeral service will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Diane Weiss. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Gary Sinise Foundation or a charity of your choice.

His legacy of service, faith, and devotion will live on in the many lives he touched.

Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the values he instilled will remain in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
