Roy P. Shawl

Roy passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at his residence with his family by his side at the age of 95 years. He was born in Bay City on April 22, 1926 to the late George and Bertha (Peters) Shawl. Roy proudly served his country in the Army Air Force as a Radar Officer in the Army Transport/Merchant Marine command and was a WWII Veteran. Roy retired from Dow Chemical after 36 years as Manager of Special Services in Executive Management. Among his many hobbies were family outings at his cabin in Iosco County, hunting, fishing, golf, gardening, chess, woodworking and especially enjoyed trail riding, berry and mushroom picking and fishing with his special friend and grandson Jayce Lara.
Roy is survived by his children, Martin (Sharon) Shawl and Karen (Robert) Karbowski; step daughter, Pamela (Mark) Dorn-Moore; grandchildren, Jayce Lara, Jennifer Richardson, Jeff Shawl and Richard Shawl; great grandchildren, Laken (Rogner) Morse, Addison Rogner, Eli Richardson, Andry Shawl and Serenity Lara. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Long) Shawl; son, Jeff Shawl and granddaughter, Sara Shawl.
