Samuel J. Roberts Jr.

Sam passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 78 with his loving family by his side. The son of the late Samuel and Eleanor (Yelle) Roberts was born December 30, 1943 in Bay City, Michigan. Sam was retired from Bay City Electric Light and Power. He was a car enthusiast, loved his Model T Ford and carving wood but most of all he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with them.
Sam is survived by his wife, the former Sharon L. Wahl, whom he married in July of 1983, Sharon was a constant compass for Sam always by his side; seven children, Christine Mayer, Laurie (Gavin) McDonald, Lisa Choi, Bob (Maria) Roberts, Michelle (Scott) Reincke, Kevin Roberts and Brandon (Jill) Roberts; seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren, all of whom he loved and adored; sister, Truda Smith. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister, Julie Edsall.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of McLaren Bay Region for their compassion and for taking such good care of Sam.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. James Bessert with private interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, March 21, 2022 at the Gephart Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sam will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorial cards for the Arthritis Foundation will be available at the funeral home.
