Stanley Centala, 71, of Pinconning, formerly of Bay City, passed away on July 26, 2021 from a long battle with cancer and Parkinson's. He was beloved and adored by his family.
Stanley was born on April 9, 1950, in Bay City. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol; son, Noel Centala of Conway, SC; daughter, Amanda (Gregg) Bourdon of Howell, MI; daughter, Dawn (David) Correia of Seaside, CA; eight grandchildren, Christian, Noella, Megan, Sarah, Isabel, Ariel, Michel'le and Ashley. He was also survived by his brothers, Thomas (Patti) Centala, Donald (Dorothy) McEachern and James (Camille) McEachern; sisters, Clara Murphy and Karen Orlik. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Eleanor Centala; sister, Florence McEachern; brothers, Charles and Robert McEachern.
Stanley was drafted into the Army in 1969. He was part of the 412 cavalry unit in Vietnam in 1971 and was a member of the purple heart society. He worked 22 years for the Bay City Post Office, where he retired in 2005.
Stanley was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed gardening and being with his grandchildren. Of late, he also enjoyed spending his time at the casinos.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson. The family will be present to receive visitors from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.
