Steven E. Thiel, a beloved Pastor and devoted family man, passed away peacefully at his home on March 1, 2026, after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments, a testament to the enduring relationships he cherished throughout his life. In Steven’s last days he was at peace with his life and was looking forward to meeting Jesus face-to-face and hearing Jesus say to him, “Welcome my good and faithful servant”.
Born on May 14, 1954, in Laramie, Wyoming, Steven dedicated 33 years of his life to serving the Lord in his community as Pastor. His commitment to his congregation and faith was unwavering. He earned his Masters of Divinity, at Concordia Theologica Seminary in Ft. Wayne. which equipped him to fulfill his calling with compassion and understanding. Known for his kindness and welcoming demeanor, Steven had a unique ability to make others feel at ease and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Outside of his pastoral duties, Steven enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and hunting. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Susan (Roberts) Thiel; their children, Robert Thiel, Adam (Jessica) Thiel, and Rachel (Eric) Busch; his grandson, Samuel Thiel; and brother, David Thiel. Steven's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories created with his cherished family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Joyce (Rush) Thiel, and his brother, Jon Thiel.
