Thomas "Tom" M. McFarland

With great sadness and much love, we announce the passing of Thomas Milton McFarland, age 84, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend to so many. He received his heavenly angel wings on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Tom was born on June 11, 1941 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Thomas and Florence (Deary) McFarland. Tom was a devoted Catholic and attended St. John’s Catholic High School, graduating in June 1959. Tom also served as an Usher at Corpus Christi Church for many years. Tom, true to his loyal, generous, and honorable nature, enlisted in the United States Army. He also retired from General Motors following a fulfilling career.

On January 2, 1965 Tom married the love of his life, Judy Ann Chambers and together they built a wonderful life filled with children they adored, laughter, faith, and much love. Tom sadly was preceded in death by Judy on May 3, 2022.

Tom is survived by his children, son Jeffrey McFarland, daughter Kelly Jo (Brian) Bowsher, and son Matthew (Amy) McFarland. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Richard (Sarah) McFarland; Mark (Nancy) McFarland; John (Susan) McFarland; Jim McFarland and Kathleen Brien; Mary (Jack) Conners; Ann (Mark) Allen; and Daniel (Krista) McFarland, who preceded Tom in death. Tom is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he loved and cherished. Alexis Herzog; Blake Herzog; Maegan (David) Fruth; Nathan (Nicole) McFarland; and Geoffrey Burdanowicz. Tom is also survived by his niece Carrie (Thomas) Owczarzak, and other nieces and nephews. Tom is also survived by his loving girlfriend, Patricia Seeburger, and her kind and welcoming family, Colleen, Louie, and Jordyn Landon.

Tom was an amazing man, who lit up every room he entered with his smile, a “top of the day”, and a sparkle in his eye. We mostly called him Dad, but he was also lovingly referred to as Father, T, Tommy-T, and T-Mac. Tom loved sports and his favorite team was the Michigan State Spartans, and he would always be seen in his Sparty gear and hat. Family was everything to Tom, and he loved and adored his grandchildren, and was involved in their many activities as they were growing up. They too, loved their Grandpa, and have many wonderful memories of special times spent together. Over the past three years, Tom was blessed to have companionship and love with his girlfriend Pat, with whom he spent every day, often playing dominoes and card games. They enjoyed spending time with her family, saving their dollar bills to play “31” and having dinner together. With Pat and her family, Tom earned his last, beloved and special nickname, Mr. T. Tom was a man of integrity, with a kind, generous heart, who would do anything for anyone in need. Tom was so loved and we don’t know what we will do without his bright light and love shining upon us.
