Tyrus Wayne Hartley

Ty passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Sheffield Bay at the age of 75. The son of the late Wayne and Vernellda (King) Hartley was born November 8, 1947 in Bay City, Michigan. Ty enjoyed sailing, playing pickleball, walking on the beach and watching the sunrise and set.

Ty is survived by his son, Christopher Scheidler; three siblings, Ed (Cathy) Gallaher ‘”The Adopted Brother”, Debra (Tom) Hartley-Bullock and Dwight (Donna) Hartley; nieces and nephews, Wendy (Brad) Sharp, Matthew (Melisa) Zarazua and Tia (Jared) Rondeau; great nieces and nephews, Lauren, Lindsay and Liam Zarazua and Branden Zarazua; special caregivers, Gary French, Tom Pawlak and Dean Worden.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at American’s Home Health and Hospice for their compassion and care that they gave to Ty.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor J. Daniels Stoneback. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to BaySail.
