Vera C. Niemi

Our  devoted  mother,  grandmother  and  great  grandmother  passed  away  on  Sunday,  April  24, 2022  at  Brian's  House  at  the  age  of  95.  The  daughter  of  the  late  Willie  and  Mathie  (Puttbrese) Wiskow  was  born  March  29,  1927  in  Greenbush,  Minnesota.  There,  Vera  grew  up  on  the  farm   before  moving  to  Rockford,  Illinois  where  she  met  her  husband,  Carl  Niemi.  She  worked  at  the Savanna Army  Depot  during  WWII.  Vera  enjoyed  winning  card  games,  cooking,  baking,  quilting,  and  caring  for  her  family.
Mrs.  Niemi  is  survived  by  her  grandchildren,  Edward  (Nikki)  Niemi,  Brett  Myers  (Laura  Holmes), Bree  Myers,  Sam  (Jill)  Niemi  and  Ann  Marie  Niemi;  great  grandchildren,  Tucker  and  Emmet Niemi,  Cheyanne  Myers,  Mara  and  Lauren  Niemi,  two  daughters-in-law;  Sheri  Niemi  and  Carol Niemi  and  two  sisters,  Donna  Booker  and  Bea  Johnson;  and  dear  friend,  Darlene  Kreger.    In addition  to  her  parents  she  was  also  preceded  in  death  by  husband,  Carl  Niemi;  two  sons, Edward  and  Gordon  Niemi  and  one  grandson, Aaron  Niemi;  brothers  William  Irish  and  Harf Wiskow,  and  sisters,  Marie  Richardson  and  Louise  Holmburg.
Vera  was  a  member  of  Pilgrim  Lutheran  Church,  1705  Nebobish  Ave.  Essexville,  MI  48732,  and funeral  services  will  take  place  there  at  1:00  p.m.  on  Saturday,  April  30,  2022 followed by lunch.   Visitation  will take  place  at  the  church  on  Saturday  from  12:00  p.m.  until  the  time  of  services.  Officiating  will be  Pastor  Erv  Hutter.  Private  interment  will  take  place  in  Eastlawn  Memorial  Gardens  Cemetery in  Saginaw.  In  lieu  of  flowers  memorials  for  Pilgrim  Lutheran  Church  will  be  available  at  the  church or  Brian's  House,  664  W  Nebobish  Rd,  Essexville,  MI  48732. https://brians-house.org/donate/
