Verna Louise Rahn (Reiss)

Verna passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 with her family by her side at Bay Shores Nursing Center at the age of 92. She was born June 10, 1929 to the late Emil and Dorothy (Meyer) Nitschke in Bay City, Michigan. Verna attended Zion Lutheran School and was confirmed on May 28, 1944. She was a passionate member of Zion Lutheran Church.  Verna enjoyed playing bingo, watching game shows, and socializing with her friends and family, she knew every detail about everyone.
Verna is survived by her five children, Leroy (Kay) Reiss, Joy (Steven) Metzger, Wayne (Malissa) Reiss, Kim (Kathy) Reiss and Bonnie (Joe) Miller; special niece and nephew, Gary and Rosanne and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Verna is preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Reiss; husband's, Norman Reiss who she married November 26, 1949 and Harold Rahn, who she married April 11, 1987; sister, Irma Liss and brother, Shirley Nitschke.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bay Shores Nursing Center.
Funeral Service will take place Friday, March 11, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home with private interment at Fremont Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Phillip Baerwolf. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 11, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Gephart Funeral Home.
