Verne Hatch

Verne passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Medilodge of Midland at the age of 96 years. He was born in Newport, Maine on January 16, 1925 to the late Eugene and Flossie (Braley) Hatch. Verne married Violette on October 12, 1963 and she preceded him in death on April 15, 2009 after 45 years of marriage. He worked and retired after many years from the United States Airforce, Defoe Shipbuilding Company and Consumers Power. He was a member of St. Hedwigs Catholic Church and proudly served his country in the United States Airforce during the Korean War. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodcarving, airplane building and golfing. Vern was a patriot who served his country with distinction. He was a loving father, doting grandfather and a protector and defender of his family. His generosity to others was commendable. His work ethic was admired by all who knew him. He was a man of integrity and courage, committed to doing what was right and just.
Verne is survived by his children, Greg (Deborah) Bourgord, Renee (Paul) Wysynski and Lanette Wackerle; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his son, Barry (Alana) Bourgord; brothers, Herman, Glen and Earl and sisters, Mildred, Marian, Arlene, Louise and Ethel.
Private interment has taken place at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Sault Sainte. Marie, Michigan with a memorial service at a later date. Contributions may be made to the wishes of the family. For online condolences visit www.gephartfuneralhome.com
