Violet May Reitmeyer

Mrs. Violet May Reitmeyer passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Woodhaven Assisted Living at the age of 95. She was born May 21, 1927 in Rochester, Michigan to the late Edwin and Adella (Berhrendt) Haff. Violet was a devoted member at Faith Lutheran Church since 1968. She was on the church Prayer Chain Team, the Altar Guild and the Parish Service Guild. She was an avid Detroit Tiger Baseball fan who enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, giraffe collector and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Violet is survived by her four children, Thea Reitmeyer of Bay City, Marcia Reitmeyer of Altadena, CA, Darryl (Michelle) Reitmeyer of Carlsbad, CA and Cara (Gary) Mahoney of Aurora, OH; five grandsons, Joshua (Elisabeth) Krach, Justin (Alli) Krach, Andrew Reitmeyer, Zachary (Leah) Reitmeyer and Noah Reitmeyer; great granddaughter on the way, Ruby Norine Krach; two step-grandchildren, Michaela and Karina Mahoney; and many nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Reitmeyer; sisters, Vera, Gladys and Eileen; brother, Lawrence and her parents, Edwin and Adella (Berhrendt) Haff "Ma and Pa".

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Maxine Klein who was her personal homecare giver for five years as well as to Katie Duyser and the staff of Woodhaven for the special care Violet received.

Funeral Services will take place Friday, October 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Bender with private interment at the Union Corners Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Reitmeyer will lie in state at the church on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, Contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
