Waldtraut W. Lutz "Wally"

Waldtraut (Wally) Warwel Lutz passed away at 90 years of age on January 18, 2022. Wally was born in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Gustav and Marie Warwel. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerrold W. Lutz, D.O. Wally retired from Bay City Public Schools after four decades of teaching in Bay City, Saginaw, Chicago, and Detroit schools. Wally's passion was music and she played violin in the Midland Symphony Orchestra for 25 years, Saginaw Symphony Orchestra for nearly two decades, as well as various string quartets and chamber music groups. Wally earned her degree in music education from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. She was also an equestrian, cross-county skier, and community volunteer. Family and friends were her greatest joy in life.
Wally is survived by daughters Erika L. Thomas (John) of Potomac, Maryland and Jamie A. Lutz of San Diego, California and her granddaughter Emily N. Thomas of Potomac, Maryland. Many cherished lifetime friendships were made during her teaching years at Baxman School in Bay City, Michigan and riding at the horse stables.
A life celebration will be held on July 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 805 Center Avenue in Bay City, Michigan 48706.
