Walter D. Mosher Jr.

Walter Douglas Mosher Jr. of Bay City, Michigan, son of the late Walter Douglas Mosher Sr. and Dorothy Jane Kennedy Mosher, passed away on April 13, 2023 at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital at the age of 81. He is preceded in death by his daughter Debra Kay Mosher, and brothers Randy Mosher and Richard “Dick” Mosher. He is survived by his beloved wife Madeline Kay Mosher; Children Walter “Butch” (Allison) Mosher, Sandra (Sonni) Dyer, Jason Mosher; Siblings Robert (Jeanette) Mosher, Marge Mosher, Peggy (Jerry) Caspers, Rocky (Lisa) Mosher, Norma Rumble, Billy Loge, and John Geirsbach; Grandchildren Jeremiah (Julia) Dyer, Gideon Dyer, Dustin Mosher, Tristan Mosher, Jaylyn Mosher, Kaitlyn Mosher,, Malory Mosher, Casey Mosher; Great Grandchildren Harper Karas and Layton Mosher; many cherished nieces and nephews.
Walter worked at the Bay City Light Department for 25 years as a relay technician. Prior to his work as an electrician, he served in the Army for three years from 1964-1966. Walter took great pride in his veteran status. After officially retiring, Walter continued work as an electrician independently, offering helping hands to his friends and family. In addition, Walter was also a skilled bricklayer and built many fireplaces in Midland. Outside of work, Walter loved to play softball, which he engaged in from the age of 14 until well after his 70th birthday, and took a liking to golf later in life. Most everyone around Walter attests that he was a wise man with a kind soul and a great sense of humor which was uniquely dry. Undoubtedly, his upbringing as the oldest of six children, having lost his father when he was just 18, contributed to his wit and wisdom. Walter was a man of subtlety; waiters around town often remembered him as their patron who made them origami elephants out of dollar bills. At his heart, he was a man who enjoyed the small pleasures of life, and was dedicated to providing whatever help he could to his family and friends until the very end.
The family of Walter Mosher would like to thank the staff of Mclaren Bay Regional Hospital for their excellent treatment of their loved one. Gephart Funeral Home will be hosting a visitation for Walter from 11-3 on Wednesday, April 19 with a memorial service immediately after.
As he passed, his room was filled with members of his family, a testament to the extent of which the man was adored.

Many thanks to Tristan Mosher for beautifully creating the obituary for his grandfather.
