Wayne John Obermiller

Wayne passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the age of 74. He was born to the late John and Thelma (Ackley) Obermiller on September 5, 1948 in Bay City, Michigan. Wayne was a longtime member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Wayne proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972. He enjoyed riding his bike, landscaping, helping other veterans, fishing, flying his flags, and sharing his life stories and adventures.


Wayne is survived by his sister Nancy (James) Martek and sister-in-law Marie (James) Price; nieces Alyssa Obermiller, Tara Martek, Kali Martek, Michelle (Dale) Bannick and Janine Stewart; nephews, Ryan Stewart, James Martek, Corey (Katie) Reder, Dennis Obermiller, John (Megan) Obermiller and Steve Obermiller and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Wayne is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Joyce Obermiller, his brother, Dennis Obermiller and brother-in-law, Harold Stewart.


Funeral Service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 1020 Court St. Saginaw, MI 48602. Officiating will be Pastor David Naumann. Private Interment will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to The Michigan Department of Military and Veteran Affairs, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saginaw or The Bay City Lions Club.
