William R. "Bill" and Sylvia Barber Bay City, Michigan Bill passed away Saturday evening, December 17, 2016 at The Carriage House of Bay City. Age 85 years. The son of the late Stanley Joseph and Mary Edith Barber Sr. was born November 27, 1931. Sylvia passed away Tuesday morning, December 20, 2016 at The Carriage House of Bay City. Age 76 Years. The daughter of the late Harry and Mary(Babcock) Ignasiak was born December 13, 1940. Bill and Sylvia were active members of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish- St. Stanislaus Church. Bill retired from the Bay County Waste Water Treatment Plant and Sylvia retired from the Bay City Public Schools. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and the outdoors. Sylvia enjoyed playing her accordion and guitar as well as water color painting, woodcarving and crocheting. Together Bill and Sylvia enjoyed being involved in their church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, traveling up-north, especially spending time in Rose City and they also enjoyed going canoeing. Bill proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force. Left behind to cherish Bill and Sylvia's memories are son, Darren (Catherine) Barber; step daughter, Toni (Ray) Schwall, son, Paul (Lisa) Rassette; daughter, Michele (John) Harris and son, Matthew (Kathy) Rassette; grandchildren, Andrew (Sarah Gilbert) Barber, Angela (Michael) Weber, Nicholas (Christine) Schwall, Jeffrey (Jacquie) Schwall and Jillian Schwall, Aaron (Pearl) Rassette, Julia (Doug) Hasso, Rose (Chris) Whitehead, Andrea (Hector) Javier, Brian Butterworth, Rachel Rassette and Rian Rassette great grandchildren, Levi, Luke, Leila, Hunter, Easton and Callie, Gage, Carter, Penelope, Virginia, Kayla, Haley, Emma, Dash and Lana; his sisters and brother, Mary Kathleen (Thomas) Casaletto, Judith Ann Barber, O.P., Andrea Louise (Richard) Sass, Paul Anthony (Donna) Barber and Rosemary Margaret Steers, her sister, Pat Bootz. In addition to his parents Bill was also preceded in death by his step-son, Randall F. Estabrook; two brothers, Stanley Joseph Barber Jr. and Robert David Barber; one brother-in-law, John Steers. In addition to Sylvia's parents she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Pfenniger and Joan Groff. The Funeral Liturgy for Bill and Sylvia will be celebrated Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church. The celebrant will be Rev. Richard M. Fillary with the Rite of Committal following in St. Stanislaus Cemetery followed by Military Honors for Bill conducted by the Bay County Veterans and the U.S. Air Force. Bill and Sylvia's family will be present at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil for the Deceased will take place Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Bill and Sylvia will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
