William J. Burgess Sr.

Mr. Burgess passed away May 9, 2016 at McLaren Bay Special Care. Age 84 years. The son of the late William and Myrtle (Robinson) Burgess was born May 16, 1931 in Deckerville, Michigan. He was a member of East Marion Baptist Church. Mr. Burgess owned and operated Burgess Block and Cement Co. He was a member of Marion Masonic Lodge #392, Sanilac County Shriners, drove T. cars for Sanilac County Shriners. He enjoyed going hunting, watching Detroit Baseball, watching NASCAR and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife the former Mary E. Davis whom he married July 5, 1952; one son and daughter-in-law, William and Debra Burgess Jr.; two grandsons, William Jason (Rachel) Burgess IV, and Christopher Burgess; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Tim O'Mara. In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his sister, Donna Gordon. At the request of Mr. Burgess Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service is being planned for a later date.
