William A. Gies "Bill"

Bill passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at his home at the age of 49. He was born in Bay City, Michigan on January 8, 1972 to the late James and Wanda (Getyina) Gies. He graduated from the final graduating class of T.L Handy High School in 1989. Bill worked 3rd shift for 21 years as an electrician for Saginaw Metal Casting Operations. He was a loyal member of the UAW Local 362. Bill enjoyed camping, watching NASCAR and listening to country music, especially Hank Williams.

Bill is survived by his brother, James Gies Jr.; two nephews, Aaron and Jared; many aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his parents Bill is preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Laura Gies, Elmer and Rosanna Getyina; two uncles, Barry Odell and Elmer Getyina Jr.; two aunts, Elizabeth Stagray and Nancy Gies; three cousins, Donald Gies Jr., Jesse Odell, Mindy Wassmann.

Visitation for Bill will take place Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Gephart Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. We are currently still under the governor's executive order of social distancing and limited to 25 visitors in the chapel at one time. You may experience a wait while paying your respects, face coverings must be worn. Private interment will take place at Floral Gardens Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Nathan Weidner Foundation.
