William August Hoffman Jr.

William passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Toni and Trish House, with his loving family by his side, at the age of 89. He was born on May 25, 1937, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late William Sr. and Florence Hoffman.

A 1955 graduate of T.L. Handy High School, William proudly answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army in December of 1960. During his military service, he was stationed in Germany during the construction of the Berlin Wall, an important moment in world history. Following his honorable service, William began a long and dedicated career with Dow Chemical, where he faithfully worked for 40 years before retiring in 1994.

William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose quiet strength, steadfast work ethic, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children, John (Maryann) Hoffman, Jonie Hoffman and her dear friend, Tim Hompstead, and Lori (Dennis) Tebedo; four grandchildren, Stephanie Hoffman, Jeffery (Hailey Powers) Madison, Ashley Hoffman, and Julia Hoffman; brother, Dale Hoffman; sisters, Sue McHenry, and Darla Verhague; as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Hoffman; his sons, William Hoffman and Thomas Hoffman; and his siblings, Donald Hoffman, James Hoffman, and Joan Nelson; brother-in-law’s, Casey Marshall and Larry Marshall.

Honoring William's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Chris Garcia with private inurnment at a later date. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathy may consider a memorial contribution in accordance with the family's wishes.
