William H. Houvener

Houvener, William Henry Bay City, Michigan William ("Bill, Butch") H. Houvener, age 68, passed away on October 27, 2011 while deer hunting in Texas. He was born July 31, 1943 in Bay City to Henry Clay and Helen Marguerite (nee Haley) Houvener who have preceded him in death. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years. He later became employed at General Motors, Saginaw Steering Gear Division, as a Boiler Fireman for 31 years and retired from GM in 1996. He then spent the next 10 years as an over the road truck driver and retired in 2006. Bill enjoyed bicycling, lapidary arts, hunting, skeet shooting and target shooting. He was a member of Bay City Bowmen, the Bay County Conservation & Gun Club, the Midland County Sportsman's Club, the National Rifle Association, the Mid Michigan Rock Club, and the Tri County Rocks and Minerals Club. He is survived by his life partner/companion of 37 years Kim J. Sherwood and her family, his three children Deanne Marie, James Bryce, and William Henry Clay, four grandchildren, his half brother Robert (Jean) Houvener of Ishpeming, MI as well as many friends. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no memorial services will be held. Those planning and expression of sympathy might consider the Chippewa Nature Center or the Bay County Conservation & Gun Club.
