Mr. Knaub passed away Friday, April 25, 2014 at Covenant Health Care Copper. Age 96 years. The son of the late George and Elizabeth (Traudt) Knaub was born February 12, 1918 in Hillrose, CO. William was a member of Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marine Corps., field representative of the United Mine Workers of America, an avid outdoorsman and a jack of all trades.
Mr. Knaub is survived by his wife, Roma June Knaub; children, Thomas (Theresa) Knaub, Wendy Freshney, Lola (Thomas) Grant, Barbara (Kim) Wright, Jaymi (Fred) Baty, Percy Dubay and Alvin (Carol) Gamburd; daughter-in-law, Rennae Knaub; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, John Knaub, Fred Knaub and Ed Knaub and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents William was also preceded in death by his wife, Clara; one son, William "Butch" Knaub and numerous brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Steven Korth with Committal following in Floral Gardens Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Knaub will be taken to the church to lie in state on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for the Alzheimer's Association or the Bay County Veterans Council will be available at the funeral home.
