Wilma Jean Augustyniak, our beloved mom, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend went to be with our Lord on Sunday, January 22, 2023. She passed away unexpectedly at the age of 88. Wilma was born on November 2, 1934 in Prescott, MI to the late Glen R. and Helen C. (Harmon) Cole. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years Harold L. Augustyniak. She is survived by her two loving children, Russell (Wendy) Augustyniak of Essexville, MI; Helene Jo (Peter) Garino of Niles, IL; three grandchildren, Stacy (Daniel) Schuman of Madison, WI; Megan (Nicholas) Young of Glen Ellyn, IL; Glen Thomas Garino of Niles, IL; and one special great-granddaughter, Elsie Young (age 3); her brother, Leonard (Sharoyn) Cole; her sister, Judy Fahrney; several nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.
Prior to becoming a mother and homemaker, Wilma attended college and began teaching grades 1 through 8 in a one room school house. As a lifelong member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish- St. Maria Goretti Parish she was an active member of altar sodality and bible study. She was a 4H coleader and a noon aid at Brissette Elementary School. Wilma was very devoted to her family and always looked forward to spending time with them, especially their annual family summer vacations.
Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
