In the late 1940's the funeral home operated as the Hovey Funeral Home, the funeral home was purchased by C. Harold Gephart and renamed Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. & Cremation Services and was owned and operated up until 1976 by Wilfred Gephart. The funeral home was purchased by longtime employee, Gerald "Jerry" A . and his wife, Thelma. Jerry's boys, Douglas "Doug "J. and David "Dave" G. Luczak both went on to mortuary school and joined him in the family business. In 2001 upon Jerrys' death the funeral home was purchased by Doug and Dave from their mother. With Doug's unexpected death in 2017, Dave and his wife, Nicole purchased his stock and now are the sole owners of the funeral home.

 For over 80 years we have provided families of Bay City and surrounding areas,with unmatched professional and personal guidance, offering personalized traditional burial, memorial services and cremation, cemetery markers and monuments at discounted prices with an onsite display, prepaid funerals and Medicaid approved plans, assisting with flowers thru local florists, catered receptions at our neighboring church.

The Gephart way has always been and still is, be compassionate and sensitive to families needs, to offer complete assistance, before during and after the service, and to accept the responsibility entrusted to us with the highest level of respect. Our first priority is always the families we assist. We make our decisions based on what best serves the families and our community as a whole. We consider ourselves to be the best in the area, our directors make decisions that accommodate the families wishes, while providing the highest level of value.
